I’m coming to Folklorama 2026: Celebrating Japanese Calligraphy at Winnipeg’s Beloved Cultural Festival

This August, I'll be returning to Folklorama as a Japanese Ambassador—an honour that means so much to me. This is my second year participating in this incredible festival, and I'm always grateful for the opportunity to share a small piece of Japanese culture through the art of calligraphy.

If you're from Winnipeg, chances are you've experienced the magic of Folklorama before. If not, there's never been a better time to visit.

Celebrating its 55th year, Folklorama is one of Canada's largest and longest-running multicultural festivals. For two weeks each August, communities from around the world come together to share their traditions through food, music, dance, art, and storytelling. This year, 45 cultural pavilions across Winnipeg will welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors, offering the chance to "travel the world" without ever leaving the city.

One evening you might find yourself enjoying Irish music, the next learning about Egyptian traditions, tasting Jamaican cuisine, or experiencing the beauty of Japanese culture. It's truly one of Winnipeg's most unique and beloved summer events.
